Program Description

This program is designed to give students knowledge and hands-on experience in Aviation and Management as well as providing co-operative work experience. Aviation: Specific courses provide students with a solid understanding of the aviation industry in Canada and around the world. Management: Courses are designed to give students an introductory understanding of management practices and procedures in order to be prepared for future promotional opportunities. Students are trained to analyze and use critical thinking skills to solve a variety of problems. And also makes them aware of the ethical, environmental and safety issues within the Aviation industry. Students learn the underlying principles, practices, and policies of airline management that prepare them to analyze and discuss current issues in the industry. They will learn about the functions of current marketing techniques, globalization and international airline alliances, scheduling, and the growth of the aviation industry.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the program normally obtain employment in operations or entry level management positions where they can use their knowledge and skills to progress to more advanced positions. Eligible graduates can get direct acceptance into a university program, upon completion of the diploma with a high academic standing.

Employment for this occupation is expected to increase gradually through 2005. The aviation industry has many opportunities in research and development. People with human resource skills are needed in the human factors area. Work is continually being done to analyze aviation and to determine what can be done to make it safer; to manage it more efficiently; and to develop new products and techniques to make the airplane, airline, and airport industries more successful.
