Program Description

This program combines business management with professional pilot qualifications. It is a six consecutive semester program which will provide a commercial pilot's licence together with a two-year Business Management diploma tailored to the general aviation sector. The program is signed in consultation with the aviation industry it serves. Significantly higher tuition fees will apply to this program. (Pending Ministry Approval).

Career Opportunities

Employers are now looking for commercial pilots who have postsecondary education in addition to the required licences and ratings. Graduates of this demanding program can expect to find initial employment as flight instructors or charter pilots on single engine or light twin aircraft. Following several years of successful flying experience, graduates will be qualified to compete for positions with regional or national airlines. The program opens up management opportunities in general aviation businesses including flight schools, charter services, sales and service organizations or fixed base operators.

Employment for this occupation is expected to be stable through the year 2005 with vacancies being created by retirements in the airlines, and a modest increase in overall aviation activity. Graduates should be prepared to relocate to secure employment, especially early in their careers.

Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma at or above the general level, or equivalent
  • Grade 12 English (general level or above)
  • Grade 12 Mathematics (general level or above)
  • Acceptable performance on a pre-admission flight assessment
  • Transport Canada Category 1 Aviation Medical Certificate
